Baby Jogger City Mini GT Review
The City Mini GT by Baby Jogger is a very popular stroller, so if you have never seen one, the chances are that you don’t go out much or you just never visit the park or places where mother’s and caregivers converge regularly.
Perhaps you have seen the City Mini GT countless times but you just didn’t know it, until now that you are going to be needing a stroller, and you are having an “oh I’ve seen that before” moment when it popped up on every search result.
It is on every list.
Now you are wondering why this stroller is so popular.
Whatever reasons you have made up in your mind are probably right, and yes it is a very fantastic stroller.
In addition to it being a fantastic stroller, it comes at a very reasonable price.
It leans towards affordable, which is one of the reasons why it is a favorite of moms.
If you have ever used a stroller in a large city, then you may already understand the challenges that they can come with.
What you really need is a stroller that is sturdy enough to withstand impacts everyday use, but still compact and lightweight enough to make navigating sidewalks and public transit a lot easier, and fit in the trunk of your car without any fuss.
The Baby Jogger City Mini GT checks every box. You can also consider this stroller to be a combination of an all-terrain stroller, an umbrella stroller as well as a full travel system.
Installation
Taking the stroller out of the box, it takes only a few steps to get it ready, thanks to the well-illustrated instruction manual, which we have a great feeling that you will also find very helpful.
It really is a breeze assembling the City Mini GT, all you need to do put the wheels and the canopy in place, and that’s it!
It is so easy to do, my 3 year old actually put the wheels on ours!
Maneuverability
The GT is arguably one of the best when it comes to how easy it glides and turns, it actually performs better than other Baby Jogger strollers in that aspect.
When compared to other strollers like Thule Urban Glide 2 and BOB Revolution Flex, the City Mini GT actually does make a solid competition.
The Mini GT is an upgrade of the previous Mini, but with a sportier design and tyres that offer fantastic smooth rides.
The City Mini GT comes with suspension, but it is not adjustable like the suspension on the BOB Revolution Flex.
The air filled tyres also contribute to the near perfect maneuverability of the City Mini GT, allowing it to glide over any surface is a smooth fashion.
The stroller can be pushed with just one hand and can maneuver in tight spaces.
We took the GT for a spin on a variety of surfaces and it did not disappoint.
Folding and Storage
Convenience is always an important factor when considering buying a particular stroller.
This is another aspect where the City Mini GT excels.
The stroller has a one-handed folding mechanism that collapses the stroller into a compact size that is easy to toss in the trunk of your car.
When you combine a one-handed fold design and the lightweight of this stroller, you will better understand why it is important to be able to fold your stroller as quickly as possible.
The only downside with the folding design is that the stroller does not have a self-standing capability, so you are going to have to lay it on its side after folding it or store it in your trunk immediately.
We found the folding process to be a breeze and truly a one-handed system.
Car Seat
You will have to spend a little extra as the City Mini GT is not directly compatible with any car seat.
You need a car seat adapter, which is sold separately.
You can buy adapter frames for car seats from brands like Baby Jogger, Maxi-Cosi, Britax, Chicco, Cybex, Nuna, Graco, BOB, Peg Perego. The Chicco Keyfit 30, UPPAbaby Mesa and Peg Perego Primo Viaggio 4-35 are good options to consider for a car seat to use with your Baby Jogger City Mini GT.
Canopy
The City Mini GT has a generous shade with a UV rating of 50+.
There are two peek-a-boo windows that allow you to view your baby without having to stop and look at your baby or turn the stroller around every time.
Safety
The GT comes with a 5-point safety harness, which is like a standard for most strollers.
The key thing here is that the harness is easy to get on, but we found it to be a little harder to undo.
It has a lot to do with the design of the lock mechanism which requires you to press the knob on the back at the same moment you press the button on the front.
It can be frustrating, but when you think about it from the point of view of child safety, it is a good thing.
What this means is that your curious child will be unable to release the harness while the stroller is in motion.
